There are many guidelines on how many calories you should consume to maintain or lose weight. The generic guidelines are as follows:
For Men 2500 Calories a day to maintain a current weight
For Women 2000 Calories a day to maintain a current weight
However, there are more accurate ways to investigate roughly how many calories you should consume in a day.
The Australian Government has an excellent set of nutrition calculators that take into account your gender, age, weight and activity level.
