A Not So Flexi Yogi

Welcome to the Not So Flexi Yogi a website designed to help everyone in their quest to live a healthy, active and happy life.

 

My health and fitness journey started with I was around 19, going through a stressful time in my first year of university and trying to find my place in the world. I did as many people do and used exercise to push my body to its limits preferring running, weights and high intensity cardio classes and limiting my calorie intake. As the years have gone on I’ve found a much better balance in how I exercise, eat and look after myself. I’ve worked as a Primary School teacher, become a mum, and slowly pursued my interest in health and fitness through part time courses over the years.

 

I’m now a qualified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness instructor, a 500hr qualified Yoga teacher and I have recently graduated with a Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics for Personal Trainers.

 

Through working in the industry for the past 10 years I have always been saddened by people who feel they don’t belong in gyms and health centres or are punishing their bodies with strictly controlled calorie diets. Therefore, my passion has become helping and educating people who want to improve their health and fitness in a different way. My ultimate goal is to ensure that people no longer feel they can never achieve their health and fitness goals, especially those people who feel ‘they could never do Yoga’ because ‘they’re not flexible enough’ (the most common thing said to me when I tell people they should come along to a Yoga class) or ‘I can’t afford to join a gym or eat healthier’.

 

You won’t find crazy acrobatics, impossible nutritional expectations or workout plans designed for athletes here. This site is designed for anyone who is seeking to learn a little bit more about diet, exercise and wellbeing.

 

I hope that this site provides easy to follow, relevant and interesting resources to support everyone in their health and fitness journey. I am by no means a gymnast, dancer, marathon runner or chef but I am passionate about ensuring that everyone (even those who are not so flexible like me) can enjoy the benefits of Yoga, nutrition and exercise.
